A Message to my Mum

Dear Mother,

You are the perfect match for my father; the one who has given me love from birth until now, the one whose strength keeps me going in my days of uncertainty. There is definitely no other love like a mother's. I am grateful for all the sacrifices you have made for me to be where and what I am today. You have taught us, your children, so much about life; you have shown your daughters how to be a good wife, my ever-praying mum. You would wake in the middle of the night, sit in your garment right in the prayer room, and pray for your husband and your kids; at times, you'd also wake at the very early hours of the morning and keep praying for us until it is time for morning devotion. Even when we were tired, my mum never forgets every Friday night vigil. She keeps ringing a reminder in everyone's ears, including my father's. We just must pray! My mother keeps talking about the wonders of God and how He has come through for her in several ways and would never hesitate to show her babies. Mum, what you have survived through your journey of life has contributed to this super strength of yours.

I want you to know today that I do not forget your labour of love over me and my siblings, and we're definitely going to make sure you enjoy the rest of your life on earth. The rest of your life should be about 70 more years, I pray. I and my siblings call you blessed; your husband also, and he praises you daily. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all, Mum. I appreciate your sacrifice and promise to do better even for my kids. You and Dad have been the best parents to me and my siblings, and on behalf of my siblings, I say thank you.

On this Mother's Day, I hope you feel cherished, Mum. May you get all the love you deserve. May strength and dignity continue to be your clothing, and you will laugh at the time to come. May you continually open your mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness never leave your tongue.
